As publisher, Fisher was Martini Republic's co-founder, designer and chief web-tech. The politics/booze/L.A./sports/culture blog has enjoyed at least 16 minutes of MSM fame (mentions on CNN and quotes in various papers) as well as its share of ranting flame wars with everyone from Cathy Seipp and various right-wing bloggers to L.A.-centric bloggers like Sean Bonner, Kevin Roderick and yours truly ...
Fisher was also often a near-silent partner. She posted infrequently, but also built a handsome blog, made it even handsomer in a recent redesign and added functionality and editorial guidance that helped her caustic colleagues build audience and interest.
She only hints at what internal strife with fellow Martini Republicans might have pushed her to abandon her creation:
I suppose I could say I need to spend more time with my family or that I've had creative differences with other members here - but euphemisms aren't my style. Suffice it to say that it's time for me to go.
We can only guess at the reason - or at how much it hurt.
(Full disclosure - Laura and I have corresponded via The WELL for many years, but she hasn't commented to me on this yet. The door is open.)
