Artifact Discovered: Walter Moore Debate Video
2672 Reads

Well, hush my mouth.

It turns out Wednesday's Los Angeles Mayoral debate was pickled on video for all those who failed to make it out to Los Angeles Valley College to see four non-Hahns duke it out.

The shaky, blown-out, low-res video (Windows media format) was shot and posted on the Web by Hal Netkin, a longtime foe of Antonio Villaraigosa (and now apparent backer of Walter Moore. But the audio's decent enough to hear Moore, in his first (and perhaps only) debate performance, assail the "bribeocracy" at City Hall, and offer this vague broadside:
POWER
"Public policy isn't based on the public interest any more, it's based on the highest bidder. This city is up for sale. I've been a business trial lawyer for 20 years. I've seen a lot of fraud, I've seen a lot of corruption, but I've never seen anything like the city hall in this town. Career politicians don't care aobut the public interest, they care about raising money for the next campaign. They don't even wait until one term expires before they're running for a different office."

If I get time over the weekend (?) I'll work up a transcript of the debate, which featured Moore, Richard Alarcon, Bob Hertzberg, and Bernard Parks.

Villaraigosa and Hahn snubbed the debate.
