I'm not saying I have answers - nor that anyone does. But you have to wonder: - Do we really need to ban smoking in all Los Angeles apartments? Or should you be allowed to smoke whatever the hell you want within the privacy of your home no matter how fast it kills you or how foul-smelling you leave the place for the next guy? - Why did it take the French so long to acknowledge that in California, it really is the cheese? - Did BigIdeas4LA.com really stop posting for an entire week so that Bob Hertzberg could make up his mind whom to endorse? ...
- Will David Geffen finally flee Malibu to escape the horror of gloating riff-raff cavorting on "his" beach? - Was the L.A. Times' Eric Slater writing fiction on company time? - Do I have to wait until my kids are grown to get enough time and money to chase cool art? - What are the odds Eli Broad will ever again offer to lend his private jet to the city when we can't even bother to fill out forms correctly? - How long until Brian Flemming's upcoming movie makes him more enemies (or money) than he can handle? - What's Joni Mitchell doing in town? And finally, - How many Star Wars nerds does it take to screw in a lightbulb? Just 138: one to fetch the bulb and the other 137 to save a place in line for him under the sink. Bonus dig: "Hey Moe! No wonder dese pipes don't woik! Dey're all clogged wit' wires!"
