Cutting Down All Those Annoying Trees At Griffith Park
3308 Reads

By Walter Moore - www.MooreIsBetter.com

If you hate trees -- and who doesn't? -- you're going to love City Hall's new "master plan" for Griffith Park. The plan only cost $400,000 of your money, and it's full of great ideas, such as: tearing down existing parking structures, and rebuilding them a short distance away; chopping down decades-old trees because they are not "native;" and building, building, building.

ENVIRONMENT
To read the "Griffith Park Master Plan," you'll need to brush up on your Latin. Seriously. The foreword to the report is in Latin. And don't think you're going to get away with reading merely the "Executive Summary" of this 194-page behemoth document, because it's blank. That's right: the "Executive Summary" is blank. You could not make this stuff up. ( See for yourself:)

Apparently, City Hall wants to make L.A. more like New York. You see, Central Park is 843 acres. Griffith Park, by contrast, is 4210 acres. Obviously our park is far too big, and needs to be cut down to size. How embarrassing! Leave it to the career politicians at City Hall to spend your money on "park reduction" surgery.

Do you know of anyone, any taxpaying citizen, anyone from planet Earth who has ever complained that we have too many trees in this town? Have you met anyone who called for more pavement in this green oasis? Me, neither. But City Hall politicians need to redistribute your money to campaign contributors, so something's got to give. In this case, it's L.A.'s tree population.

For more information, and to join the fight to save this unique urban forest, visit: www.savegriffithpark.org . It's one thing to squander our tax dollars. But it's another to do so by wiping out our last remaining bit of green space.
