POWER: State GOP Targets County Leaders' Activities
1205 Reads

While Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and Rudy Giuliani stole the headlines at this weekend's State Republican Party Convention, the real stories percolated beneath the radar of the mainstream media.

While Doug Boyd, husband of the Republican Party of Los Angeles County Chairman Linda, was elected the regional State Vice-Chair for Los Angeles, the rules committee was at work on a new rule that functionally gave the Boyds a slap in the face.

Members of the State Central Committee would henceforth be forbidden from taking money from non-Republican candidates, under the new rule, which was inspired by Boyd's $20,000-a-month payday from former Los Angeles Mayor Jim Hahn. Since Linda has lost her $5,000-a-month contract for fundraising on behalf of the organization she chairs, the family may wonder how they can support their ever-growing family (with nearly a dozen children at last count) and remain politically active!
