Los Angeles, CA – For over half a century, the Coro Southern California Center for Civic Leadership has been “Training Tomorrow’s Leaders” through its venerated Fellows Program in Public Affairs. Twelve more future leaders began their Coro leadership experience earlier this month and all have just begun their government placements.
“We ask our Coro Fellows to examine all of the institutions of public affairs and that begins with their Government rotation,” said Coro Southern California President and CEO, Don Pierro. “Only by getting hands-on exposure can they begin to fully understand the relationship between citizens and their government.”
For the next five weeks, the Coro Fellows will be looking at the respective roles of government, working on projects and conducting interviews—to be followed with a presentation of their findings. Other rotations in the coming months will include political campaigns, business, labor, media and community organizations. Below is a list of where the Coro Southern California Fellows are placed.Carlos Mejia and Jacqueline Scahill – Los Angeles Department of Water and Power
· Jeanelle Obergfel and William White – Los Angeles County Chief Executive Office (William T. Fujioka)
· Mark Stefanos and Yvette Shirinian – Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority
· Gabe Rose and Annette Wong – Los Angeles City College
· Benjamin Adlin and Simone Collins – Los Angeles County Sheriff Leroy D. Baca
· Arthur Jackson and Rani Woods – Los Angeles World Airports
“The Fellow are off to a terrific start,” said Pierro. “They presented their City of Ontario Logic Study last week and have already rolled up their sleeves with their Government placement. I’m looking forward to their presentation of findings.”
