Whoa.
blogging.la's Sean Bonner had been hinting for some time that he was working on something big, and it appears to have popped at last:
Bonner and Jason DeFillippo's new network, Metroblogging proposes to spread blogging.la's successful (or at the very least, incredibly industrious and often engaging) formula of hyper-local entertainment listings, photos, urban rants and reviews to an impressive and ambitious array of cities:

Chicago, New York City and San Francisco are already up and running, according to the Metroblogging site, soon to be followed by Atlanta, Boston, DC, Miami, Orange County, Seattle, Dublin, London, Tokyo and Toronto.
So far, L.A.'s roster of writers is by far the largest, but there's a prominent link inviting bloggers to apply to join in the "still-to-come" cities.
No word yet on how well funded this effort is or hopes to be; besides a simple email form linked from the word "advertise," the FAQ is mockingly brief: like, um, how come you are only taking aplications for certain cities and stuff?
contrary to popular belief, we are not gods, and can only do so many things at once. we want to add other cities, but are starting with these, as they fill up we'll add more. if you think we should get to your city next, let us know why.
what platform are you using to power your blogs?
we use the amazing blogware package created by the good folks at tucows.
who's behind metroblogging.com?
metroblogging is brought to you by sean bonner and jason defillippo who between them have roughly 138 dog years of blogging and online experience.
how come you only have three frequently asked questions?
this is brand new, no one has really asked us anything anything else yet. I have to wish them the best of luck. With the arctic icepack around the internet ad market starting to break up, and people blogging for love more than money, it could turn into a profitable venture.
